Oxford United’s flag has been flown at the city’s castle ahead of the team’s Wembley trip this weekend.

The Yellows are aiming to be promoted to the Championship on Saturday as they take on Bolton Wanderers in the League One Play-Off Final in London.

United were last in the second division back in 1999 and have spent the following 25 years in the leagues below.

To celebrate the occasion, a flag featuring the club crest was flown at Oxford Castle above the city on Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for Oxford United said: “This city is All United.

“A big thank you to Oxford Castle for flying the club's flag above the city this morning.”

The U’s claimed their place in the Wembley final by beating Peterborough United 2-1 on aggerate over two Play-Off Semi-Final games home and away.

Saturday’s opponents Bolton Wanderers reached the fixture by dispatching Barnsley 5-4 on aggregate.
