Professor Maynard is one of more than 100 local healthcare workers who have signed an open letter expressing their solidarity with the encampment.

The letter references the deaths of more than 458 healthcare workers and mass graves at Nasser Hospital and Al-Shifa Hospitals.

The encampment has now been active since May 6 when students set up tents in the rain outside the Pitt Rivers Museum.

The Pitt Rivers site has had hundreds of pro-Palestine protestors and supporters, while police have also responded to alleged abusive behaviour from pro-Israel groups.

In a separate incident, Israeli politician Sharren Haskel attended a nearby protest outside the Oxford Sheldonian Threat on May 8 holding up an Israeli flag.

Pro-Palestine protesters also clashed with journalist Peter Hitchens when he attended the site.
