A Bicester musician will be performing in Oxford as part of a Europe-wide tour.

British-Norwegian blues guitarist Krissy Matthews is set to take his brand-new double album, 'Krissy Matthews & Friends', on a 50-date UK and European tour throughout the spring of 2024.

Mr Matthews, who proudly proclaims his Bicester roots, will be featuring his new record on June 6 at The Bullingdon in Oxford.

Having grown up and initially honing his craft in Bicester, the upcoming Oxford show promises to bring a sense of nostalgia for both Mr Matthews and his home fan base.

Mr Matthews fondly recalled his Bicester roots, saying: "I grew up in Glory Farm (Bicester) my whole life."

He went to school at Cooper Secondary School and Glory Farm Primary and still plays occasionally at The Bell, a place he likes drinking at.

Mr Matthews has recorded three albums and played onstage with industry giants like John Mayall and the late Jeff Healey and received industry advice from the legendary B.B. King, all before turning 18.

The upcoming album features a whole host of guest musicians such as Chris Farlowe, German soul queen Inga Rumpf and drummers Dennis Chambers & Curt Cress.

On the new record, Mr Matthews said: "It was a long time in the making and I managed to get it done.

"I wanted to get all my favourite musicians together that I have met on the road in my career.

"They are not all here by any means, but a good handful are!

"I did not want this album to have a box, so there are many different genres from metal to blues and jazz to rock'n'roll.

"But in the end, it is a Krissy Matthews record."

The double album includes 24 songs and is almost 3 hours long.

It offers a mixture of original tracks from Mr Matthews and his favourite cover songs.

The first single from the album, called 'Queen', features the powerful vocals of Kim Jennett.

It’s a rocker of a song that promises a great reaction from audiences enjoying it live.

The Oxford show will feature a line up of additional superstar talents as he will be joined by Slawek Semeniuk from Poland on bass and Belgian drummer Gerry Reynders.

Tickets for the Oxford performance and other UK tour dates are available for purchase online.

The tour follows the successful formula of Mr Matthews's dynamic and honest performance.

Each venue becomes a ripple of awe, acting as a reminder of Mr Matthews's compelling stage presence.
