Pavement needs repairs

RE: Disgraceful pavements – Witney High Street.

Your correspondent, M Howell, (Oxford Mail, April 24, letters), is so right.

I have been fighting for this stretch of pavement to be improved for two years with WODC, who palm it off to OCC, who pass it back again to WODC.

Last year a token gesture of repairs was made by pouring silver sand in the gaps between the slabs. A child could have done better.

Suddenly yellow paint marks appeared on the defective paving slabs, indicating repairs were imminent, but no, not enough people have tripped and fallen. I guess they will do something after someone falls and is badly injured.

Larry Poole, my local councillor, took up the fight a few months back but sadly again his requests have been ignored.

What's wrong with the pavement on Witney High Street?!

Why can't people take some responsiblility for looking where they're going?

If I trip on a wonky slab, then it's entirely my fault!
