My change of opinion

I’D like to inform people of my point of view that might rather challenge some of you.

I used to feel that the average person in England was rather lazy for working at jobs. I have had what we in South Africa call an ‘Om keur’ – an about-turn. So here goes my experience.

I work part-time in a supermarket in Abingdon. If I work more than 15 hours a week, I will not only become de-registered with Job Seekers, I may lose part, or all, of my Housing Allowance.

If this is brutally correct, then I cannot serve a customer for my boss after this period is finished. I would like the Government for me – yes, just a lowly subject of Great Britain – to review and, if possible, perhaps revise this matter of Job Seekers’ Allowance and Housing Benefit.

David, Some further educative points for you.
1.If, as you previously believed, the average person in England was "lazy for working in jobs" where did all the taxpayer's money come from to pay your jobseeker's allowance and housing benefit?
2. You can not be a British "subject", there are no longer any, as there were in colonial days. You may, however, be a British citizen.
