Amusing about-turn

Am I the only one who finds new leadership of Abingdon Town Council highly amusing?

For months the Liberal Democrats on the council have been lobbying for funding for community projects and a lasting memorial, such as a bandstand, to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Conservatives blocked these ideas at every committee at which they have been raised.

Then suddenly, in the past few weeks, we have had councillors Monica and Sandy Lovett telling us how good it would be to have a bandstand and local projects, as though they have just come up with these ideas (Oxford Mail, February 3).

How many other Lib Dem ideas are the Conservatives going to hijack as their own?

Ah, but Kyle, These are possibly future politicians and this is what they do. You only have to look at Steve Webb and the way that in opposition he was all for the ending the freezing of pensions for the half million who live abroad and never get an increase in the State pension while another half million do, but now in power does nothing about it. Remember David Cameron and the referendum on the EU that was promised ? These politicians really are not worthy of the position that they hold if they cannot be honest. How can they expect the electorate to trust them and have respect for them ?
