YOUR report (Oxford Mail, October 13, p.8) carrying the headline We don’t want Tesco in Jericho begs the question: who exactly is ‘we’ in this context?
Would it by any chance be the silent majority of people living in the Jericho area who have yet to be consulted on this issue? If so, your story is at best misleading, at worst a plain and simple untruth. Hardly a democratic balanced opinion from a newspaper is it?
The so-called ‘Battle 4 Jericho’ campaign led by Max Mason, owner of the former sausage restaurant The Big Bang, appears to be under the impression that we are all behind him, which is far from the truth.
Tesco is an excellent source of good value vegetarian food. The Big Bang sold sausages made from highly intelligent, sentient animals. Anyone who visits a cancer hospital will find posters informing the public how to avoid cancer by not eating a large variety of meats, including sausages. How would Max feel if someone placed one of these posters on his restaurant windows during his tenure in Walton Street?
Just so as your readers get a more balanced opinion.
