IN THE recent Loose Ends column, Jason Collie states that it is important the Oxford Mail continues to cover the case of the county council versus the Wyatt brothers over alleged illegal dumping of waste at Waterstock Golf Club.

He said Rob Dance of the county council had complained about some of the coverage of the case and went on to state the Wyatts had “flouted planning law and remain in contempt of a High Court ruling”.

I’d like the Oxford Mail to ask Mr Dance a few questions: How did the county council arrive at its total of the cubic capacity taken onto the golf club site?

Was this total extrapolated from a tally of lorries carrying waste material onto the site conducted by a well-meaning member of the public for a couple of hours and multiplied by the number of days over which this transportation is alleged to have taken place?

Why did Mr Dance choose to ignore the professional opinion of his own appointed monitoring officers who concluded there was no excess waste left on the site?

Finally, why did the county council planning department give approval to similar dumping of waste materials to provide contours at Hinksey Heights, Faringdon and Banbury Golf Clubs? I await further progress on this one with interest.
