Head Porter Mike will be sadly missed

MIKE Taylor, Head Porter of Brasenose, one of your regular letter-writers, sadly died on Tuesday.

He was a life-long reader of the Oxford Mail and his witty, acerbic and often controversial contributions to your letters page kept us (and many more) amused.

As Head Porter he had an inside view of university life – although he was firmly town – and championed issues on student safety and welfare.

He spoke highly of the Oxford Mail’s editorial team and admired you greatly, so we would like to pass on our thanks to your staff.
