Please allow me to say a big thank you to the people of Oxfordshire and all the schoolchildren who came to see the Children of Gaza under Fire exhibition recently shown in the Town Hall.
Thanks, too, to the Oxford Mail for its excellent coverage of the event.
As a result of the generous donations made at the Town Hall showing, at the Fusion Arts Centre and at the evening talk by Dr Swee Ang, we are able to send more than £1,500 to the Gaza Mental Health Programme for the treatment of children suffering with trauma after the bombardment by Israel in early 2009.
Many of the comments in the visitor book referred to the profound sadness people felt for the children’s loss of their childhood, and a deep desire for a negotiated political settlement that will end occupation and blockade, bring the Palestinians peace and justice, and prevent scenes like we saw on our media a year ago from ever happening again.
