Following reports of a bogus TV Licensing caller in the Oxford area (TV licence scam catches out pensioners, February 24 February), I would like to reassure your readers that all genuine TV Licensing enquiry officers carry a security card with a helpline number (0300 790 6046) that people can call to verify their identity.
For anyone who may be concerned about receiving a visit from one of our enquiry officers, there is also a password system which can offer additional confirmation of identity.
The password will only be known by you and the enquiry officer, to give you additional peace of mind. This password can be arranged by contacting the same TV Licensing helpline number.
