Speeding trouble

THE NEW 20mph speed limit in St Giles seems to be causing problems, in that most drivers have decided not to obey it, choosing instead to drive at 25mph, or more, on occasions.

I regularly drive a volunteer to the JR Hospital at 7.30am and on my return find myself being overtaken, or very closely followed, by impatient drivers.

Also, some trade vans and taxis pass me at speeds well above the limit.

This road is a main artery, should not the authorities bring the 30mph sign back down to just opposite the Taylorian building?

Then Mr Dodsworth you realise what a stupid speed 20mph in St Giles is, and perhaps your comments should be directed at the local council and how they spend the cash they have, 20 MPH is valid in some places, but not St Giles.

I think the 20 mph limit is widely flouted. I was overtaken while doing 20 mph in Old Road. If the Council think this limit is essential, it should be enforced. If they don't think it necessary to enforce it, why did they introduce it?

soon there will be an accident involving a cyclist. They overtake and undertake and with a 20 mph speed limit this is made more possible
