I WRITE regarding your report Increase in Police will not Continue, (November 23).
I see the Assistant Chief Constable is earning close to £100,00 per annum and is leaving his post on January 1 to become Deputy Chief Executive of the National Policing Improvement Agency, no doubt on a much enhanced salary.
Well Mr Gargan, how about your first decision being that all senior police officers nationwide are subject to a minimum 50 per cent salary cut? On your salary alone, that would employ two police officers annually.
It is highly unlikely, I would say, as I am sure Mr Gargan and Ms Thornton will both be adamant that they earn every penny. Don’t forget, however, it is people like me (the taxpayer) that provide your salary.
