I DON’T agree with Pat Ross saying that Bill Heine’s shark should be removed (Letters, January 3).

It has been there for years and does attract a lot of visitors. The majority find it amusing and have no problem with it.

Mrs Ross says this is definitely not what is wanted in an ancient city with a world-famous university. One could say the same about the new Westgate Centre.

As the shark is two miles from the city centre and Mrs Ross cannot see it from where she lives, what’s the problem with it having listed status, as Councillor Ruth Wilkinson mentioned?

As for saying that Michael Heseltine wanted to get his own back on Oxford for some reason by overturning Oxford City Council’s refusal, no-one knows.
