WHAT are the traffic planners trying to do with High Street, widening the width of the pavement just below Turl Street on the north side and then making a bus stop space next to it?
Opposite that on the south side, a space for taxis to stand. When a bus stops and a taxi stands, the road is reduced to a single lane.
I watched in disbelief yesterday lunchtime when two delivery vehicles, one outside The Mitre, one opposite outside the bank, and a bus at the bus stop caused chaos – for other buses going up and down the street. There was barely room for a bus to get through, several were waiting their turn.
Has this been done intentionally?
Oh, and there are double-yellow lines near Alfred Street which are about 4ft long. For cycles?
