LATEST provisional figures show that last year the residents of our fair city recycled very nearly half (49.86 per cent) of our household waste.
Well done to all your readers for putting the right stuff in the right bin and remembering the correct day for collection. It really makes a difference.
Recycling is good for the environment and saves the taxpayer money.
What is more, Oxford residents are also throwing away less. In 2016/17 total rubbish and recycling per person dropped to just over five kilos each week. It seems the more we think about our waste the less we chuck out.
But the experts say we can recycle as much as 70 per cent of our rubbish. So I hope all your readers will use their foodwaste caddies and join the Blue Bin Recycling League to reduce, re-use and recycle even more.
