THE ability of medical staff to restore health and function to the human body today is truly amazing; but the ability to operate a car park that has sufficient free parking for hospital staff remains beyond the ability of practice managers, according to William Walker’s report (Oxford Mail, June 14).
We will all need the NHS’s assistance at some point in our lives. For many people in Oxfordshire a car is essential for accessing the hospitals of Oxford.
It is time for planners to halt their hostility to cars, and work with the hospital managers and support plans by hospitals for adequate parking which caters for free parking for hospital staff and modest charges for hospital visitors.
It is not acceptable that nurses and hospital cleaners should be charged for parking at their place of work.
