LABOUR councillors have been battling in Conservative-run County and District Councils for many years for solutions to the awful A40.
It doesn’t just hurt our economy, it hurts families by forcing long commutes and uncertain travel to hospitals and other essential services in our major city.
The improvements at junctions are welcome, but much more needs to be done, including the four-way junction at Shores Green in Witney and public transport including buses and trains.
For the Conservatives to campaign on this issue, given they control decisions and purse strings, is strange. Just get on with it.
It is a concern that, like the Liberal Democrats in the by-election over NHS cuts, they are collecting signatures for show rather than for taking action.
It would be wrong if it is found that those who sign start receiving unsolicited party messages.
I hope your readers alert us through your pages should that occur.
