DRIVING through Henwood yesterday I was struck by two election posters on opposite sides of the road.

The Lib Dem poster stood in front of a solidly-built house and was displayed on a stout wooden post.

It was strong and stable. Across the road on the edge of a field was a flimsy stake topped by the smiling image of Nicola Blackwood being blown hither and thither in the wind.

Is there something to be learned from this?
