AS A professional dog walker, and I can only assume I am the one that Cllr David Henwood is referring to (Letters, May 9).

I would like first to thank David for his support but I am a bit troubled as to where David acquired his information from, as it is incorrect.

Firstly dogs are not in the area at 8.30am.

I am in the area, checking it is free from used needles, sharps and knives as these have been found in the general park over the past few weeks.

I am very insulted by David’s comment about the mess that is left behind by dog users. What is your evidence?

That area is the most free-from-dog-foul area in the whole of the park.

The only mess that is left in there is empty ice cream cartons, wrappers, fizzy pop bottles and crisp packets, and even you must agree David, when the dogs reach the 19th hole, this is not on their diet.

We do have permission to use the area from the cafe owner and the council.

During the Easter holidays we did not use the area as agreed with the council.

I along with others was monitoring the crazy golf usage during this period and could count on my fingers the usage it had.

Over the last few months I have been working with the council park attendants observing the goings on in various parks in Oxford as I am a frequent user of most parks.

There has not only been a problem with dog fouling, there have been problems with with needles, knives, and sex workers, so please David don’t tar us with the same brush by saying we are irresponsible.

We are genuine citizens of the community who elected you in to represent us.

We are responsible people who want to work together with the authorities for a better and safer community.
