WHAT an odd mixture the United States is.
On the one hand they elect President Donald Trump. On the other the Statue of Liberty carries the words: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
That freedom is now denied to nationals of half-a-dozen Muslim countries and all refugees. But all countries have a duty to accept anyone who has a well-founded fear of persecution. Why a ban on Iraqis but not Saudis, for example?
This must be the world’s worst way of tackling terrorism.
The President himself has German and Scottish ancestors. Our Government should be supporting the best instincts of the United States not this anti-Muslim, anti-foreigner outburst.
