WHAT part of “democracy” does John Tanner not comprehend? The country voted; whichever way it went it must be accepted!

He says that the city council will do all it can to reflect the 70 per cent opinion to remain; would it not be better to work with the “flow” than against it and ensure that taxpayers’ money better spent?

Does he think that elsewhere in Europe, or the world, those countries will be doing similar for British people; I would decidedly suggest not. This is typical of the Looney left.

Funding for scientific research does not come from the EU; it’s our own money being allocated by the unelected Eurocrats as we touch our forelock and thank them. The government has promised funding for such research and developments so stop stirring it up.

Single market? The UK is second only to the US for cars from Europe, particularly Germany! Will Europe impose barriers to their exports; highly unlikely to definitely not!

Setting up the Oxford Council of Europeans? This is segregating non-UK residents and will be divisive thereby fuelling the attitude of “them and us”.

He/they will tackle any expressions of hate against foreigners; has this happened yet or is it more scaremongering? The police deal with such matters, no matter which source it comes from and don’t need Mr Tanner and his associates breathing down their necks. This sort of totally unacceptable act has been perpetrated before Brexit and will unfortunately continue to happen but not because of Brexit.

Controlling our borders does not mean closing them; people from around the world will still be welcome and he should accept this.

The acute strain on our public services and having to house 333,000 additional people a year is too much to expect not be controversial. Health Trusts have written off millions of pounds each in unpaid medical bills for people without health insurance from all around the globe; is this taxpayer’s money well spent plus services having to be cut to meet the shortfalls.

Mr Cameron used the term “International Health Service”; open your eyes Mr Tanner and consider your country first.
