NIGEL Bridle’s scaremongering with regard to the UK leaving the EU is complete nonsense (Letters, February 11).
He says we would be swamped with asylum seekers from migrant camps in France. Before 1980 when illegal immigrants were caught in the UK by immigration officers, a swift judgement was made as to whether their case was valid or not.
Those deemed to be lying were put on the next plane back to their own country. Unfortunately, now due to EU interference, we cannot do this, even if the said asylum seeker is clearly not a true asylum seeker.
Here is a bit of trivia: why are the woolly hats called so? Because it’s easy to pull the wool over their eyes.
