JUST how many bizarre ways of wasting money in an age of austerity can a Tory government invent?
While the Home Secretary proposes that Police and Crime Commissioners open free schools to prevent youngsters falling into a life of crime, the Education Secretary has created a transfer market for academies, where the fees paid to lawyers and accountants helping transfer schools between sponsors uses public money that could be used for teaching and learning. When all schools were local authority managed control was exerted through the ballot box and not the cashbox.
