IT IS thrilling to hear that Oxford will lead the world with its green electric car charging technology.

Pollution from our road vehicles results in around 29,000 excess deaths a year.

We now have over 11 million diesel cars on our roads that emit particulates and nitrogen dioxides which cause heart and lung disease.

Petrol cars can emit dirty hydrocarbons and benzene fumes that are linked to leukaemia.

An electric car will emit none of these proven health hazards from conventional vehicles.

If the technology takes off in a big way, then our public health will improve, thus saving money.

The nation’s health will improve and we will all be able to think even more clearly.

This is because the vehicle particulates emissions are proven to hasten cognitive decline and dementia by furring up the arteries.
