Importing gas will not make our power secure
IN A moment of insanity, Europe is building coal-fired power stations, the UK is within a decade to shut down all coal-fired power stations “to be replaced by gas powered stations” to make our electrical power supply more secure. Really?
As the gas will have to be imported, how does that make our electrical power supply more secure? Depend on the whim of foreign countries whether they supply us with gas? Coal-fired power stations with the few hundred million pounds spent on them could be made less polluting.
It’s just gesture politics. “Look at how Green we are”. We ministers have back up generators should things go wrong.
