I heard a radio interview with a Police Crime Commissioner (not ours) announcing that crime figures are down despite a cut in officers.
One has to wonder, did he ask the victims of reported crimes whether they thought the cuts were working to the advantage of Joe Public?
One also wonders if he appealed to the increasing numbers of the public who no longer report crimes because either no-one is available to attend or policy dictates that the incident is not worthy of a visit by the boys and girls in blue.
Perhaps also he should ask frontline officers whether or not they feel frustrated by their contribution fighting crime and disorder is being eroded. Figures can so easily be manipulated, can’t they victims?
