THE Mad Molars are a team of two dentists and a mechanic from the University of Glasgow who are raising funds for the Glasgow Dental School.

Their latest fundraiser involves a Cowley-built Leyland Princess and driving it to Monte Carlo as part of the Monte Carlo or Bust Banger Rally.

Last Wednesday, the Mad Molars and their Princess stopped in at the MINI Plant Oxford on their way down from Glasgow to join the Monte Carlo or Bust Banger Rally.

It was fantastic to see the Princess again, this time fully decorated in signed teeth stickers which are part of their fundraising.

The last time the Mad Molars and their Princess were in Oxford was in March for the Princess’s 40th.

On that occasion, they needed to be recovered back to Glasgow on the back of a recovery truck (well, four recovery trucks in total as each recovery truck would only take them a certain distance), and having left Oxford at 5pm, finally reached Glasgow at 6.30am the following morning.

This was not the fault of the Princess; this was because Prof Bagg, one of the Mad Molars, had lost the keys at the MINI Plant Oxford.

MINI Plant Oxford welcomed the Princess back to its birthplace and Kacey Semmens from the plant waved them off on the next stage of their journey to join the rally in Calais. Thankfully their rally to Monte Carlo was less eventful and they raised over £9,000. Not bad for a Cowley-built car which cost them £300.
