WE apologise for the disruption caused by building works at Waterstones Oxford.

In response to customer feedback, the lift is being refurbished and a goods lift installed – so you no longer have to share the lift with our deliveries!

This should be completed by mid-May. Please accept our apologies to wheelchair users, older people and parents, who have been most inconvenienced by this work.

The scaffolding, which now covers the building outside, is necessary for some major works to our Grade II listed building.

The wooden windows near the top of the building need renovation and the guttering too needs replacing.

As this is a heritage listed building, this requires sensitive and specialist attention, which sadly demands the use of scaffolding.

We apologise for the appearance of the shop and for any inconvenience it may cause you.

The only consolation is that our beautiful building is receiving the attention it deserves – work that will contribute to its preservation over time. With all of the challenges faced by the book trade in the last few years, it’s heartening that Waterstones is willing and able to invest money in our bookshop in Oxford!

Once again, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

We are all very willing to pop to different floors should you require a book from elsewhere in the shop – please ask a bookseller, as we are happy to help.
