WE are fortunate to have a Labour candidate, Andrew Smith in Oxford East, who does not want to waste millions of pounds on renewing our Trident nuclear submarines.
In the House of Commons he said: “I have made very clear my opposition to Trident renewal and to nuclear weapons in general.”
Nuclear missiles are no use against Russia, which has many more than Britain.
They are useless against terrorists like Isis who hide among the civilian population.
Indeed there are no circumstances where the use of these weapons of mass destruction could be used or even threatened.
How much more sensible to spend the money on the conventional armed forces. Or better still to invest in overseas aid and at home on hospitals, schools and green energy.
