I CONGRATULATE Clive Stone (April 7) for his continuing fight to get people with cancer the services they need. If the NHS remains open to privatisation and the freeze on health spending continues everybody will suffer.

It is not often that political solutions are clear and simple. This is one of those rare times.

Our governments have been doing the bidding of the very rich. Why else open the NHS for profit-making when everyone knows it is expensive and unfair?

Why not tax the very rich a tiny fraction of the vast amount they are taking from the economy while most people struggle?

In the last five years the richest 1,000 people in Britain have seen their wealth double.

Their combined wealth now adds up to £519 billion. The Green Party proposes a 2 per cent Wealth Tax on these people and the others who make up the top 1 per cent of wealth holders.

Politicians in every party will watch to see if they can get away with starving the NHS while not offending the very rich. A continued surge in Green support will send a different message.
