I WOULD like to congratulate Messy Jam Dance School on their huge success at the British Championships Competition (March 28), in which you reported they brought home almost 150 trophies despite not having a permanent home to practise in.

I do fail to understand why Oxford City Council has done absolutely nothing to support the dance school in finding them permanent premises.

Your story said the group had to leave its base at Jubilee 77 community centre in Sorrell Road in September, and has been on the hunt for a new home ever since.

The council has acknowledged that it has done wrong but is doing very little very quickly – nine months is a long time.

Despite having to change their times, split their accommodation and make do with inadequacies due to the fact that the council gave their premises to another group, Messy Jam have achieved incredible results.

May I suggest that the council looks deeply into who it is actually causing hardships for. It is the children who are the future of this country. Through the dance school these children have aims, inspiration, had the chance to travel abroad, develop self-worth and confidence and support different charities, yet when they are in need of support the council turns a blind eye.

Messy Jam is not just random club it is an inclusive dance school that has done well by the community, children and families of mainly Blackbird Leys, Oxfordshire and beyond.
