ALTHOUGH, on a bus in the Abingdon Road, John Tanner, board member for a Cleaner Greener Oxford, city councillor for Littlemore, county councillor for Isis and Supreme Champion of Free Speech, once addressed me as “young man” – to which I almost equally wittily responded “not so much of a ‘man’” – I was delighted to see him entering into the spirit of April Fools Day over selling off rubble from the demolition of the Westgate car park, especially at such a crucial moment in the course of British politics.
Mind you, given some of his zany projects and the utter rubbish he writes at times, a sense of humour must come in rather handy.
Why do none of his colleagues have a quiet word with him?
Anyway, I feel the Oxford Mail has rather (old) laboured the almost annual “Hugo Tolarf” pun.
On a point of information, we have not.
