WILL we ever be able to trust the banks and building societies again in this country?

Tax evasion, inflated bonuses and ill performing insurance policies, the list goes on.

The trouble is it’s nothing new; 30 years ago we had seedy little men in suits knocking on our doors convincing us to invest in endowment policies, pulling the wool over our eyes that this was the way forward and a sound investment for your future.

On maturity these policies would pay off your mortgage and give you a nice little nest egg to boost your pension. How we were taken for a ride.

Now we know the truth: we were conned into investing our hard earned cash into a system that would not work and leave us owing thousands in shortfalls and the so called nest egg hatched and flew away years ago, probably in some banker’s back pocket as they perform so well and deserve it.

Now we are left having to use lengthy legal systems to attempt to reclaim what we have lost and obtain some compensation for the lies we were told.

I wonder what those seedy little men in suits are doing now, looking for a conscience I hope.
