I WAS born and raised in Caversfield at Home Farm, the site that is becoming the new Eco Town.

Not only have I had to suffer the pain of losing my beloved home, fields, woods and wildlife but now planning are considering taking the name of Caversfield.

I am beyond words and heartbreak.

Caversfield has been in existence since the 10th Century when the St Laurence Church was built and which houses the oldest bell in the country (1215).

Caversfield House was built in 1842 on the site of former Manor House and Home Farm dates from the 16th Century originally having stone mullion and stained glass windows.

The house was built of stone quarried from the fields around the farm and in fact Caversfield is contrived from the ancient word ‘quarried and stone’.

The airfield was created in 1911 and now houses a museum as well as a gliding club. On the old Roman road that runs passed the farm, a Roman battle took place where various pieces of artifacts have been unearthed.

Why do we need to have the name changed to Bicester North Ward?

What an ugly name.
