I WOULD like the opportunity to warn fellow cyclists in Oxford to be aware of people tampering with their bicycles when they are locked.

Last week my wife returned home after a work Christmas meal out along Cowley Road and she could have suffered a fatal accident.

It was evident on her return home that somebody thought it would be a hilarious prank to somehow wrap the cables around the handlebar stem, which prevents the bike from turning left and stopping the bike suddenly.

It did, and in the dark she fell off twice, potentially in the path of a vehicle.

Whoever did this are obviously thoughtless, dangerous and may sleep better knowing they didn’t commit manslaughter. There is a line between a prank and stupidity. A big thank you to those that stopped to help my wife when she fell off.
