It started as a joke. After waiting 35 minutes for the Number 3 Rose Hill bus, meant to run every five to seven minutes, I said “We’ll wait half an hour for a bus and then three will arrive at the same time".

I was quite surprised when that actually happened.

It has happened now so many times over the last four months. Once I walked two stops down and picked up the Wood Farm, Abingdon Road bus, after waiting 45 minutes for the Rose Hill bus.

A friend who stayed and waited for the bus to the High Street later told me that five buses appeared at once that time.

This cannot just be blamed on traffic problems because the buses wait quite some time at the Rose Hill Oval before all coming down at the same time. Do we need an inspector at the Oval to ensure that the proper time lapses before a second bus starts down?

There are times when I need to get into work punctually as do many others. If we are to encourage people to go by bus instead of by car this sort of practice has to stop and the buses need to be regular and reliable. The council needs to run a neutral inspection until it is.
