In reference to Pye Homes-Blenheim Consortium’s proposal to build 1,500 houses on farmland sites at Woodstock East and the Cherwell District in proximity to Oxford London Airport. I would think that the last thing that any developer or council should be doing is planning to build a substantial number of homes in close proximity to the flight path of an expanding airport.

This will surely have a major impact on the residents of this proposed development. They would be under constant stress from noise from jets, helicopters and light aircraft.

The noise created by jets preparing to take off is deafening. Helicopters circle the proposed Woodstock East building site.

It is well known that aviation fuels, especially jet fuel, contaminate not only the upper atmosphere but also the surrounding environment. Residents living close to the flight paths would be subject to daily doses of these cumulatively harmful fumes.

Today’s letters

The proposed area would be a health hazard and a recipe for increased respiratory diseases as asthma and emphysema.

Placing a heavily populated housing development so close to the flightpath of the Oxford London Airport is inviting potential disaster. Over the years there have been documented crashes and deaths at or close by the airport.

This Pye-Blenheim proposal should never be allowed to get off the ground.
