It is interesting reading all the letters about the traffic jams – and yes I agree there are a lot around Oxford.

But maybe it is time that people started helping themselves rather than constantly moaning about it.

I work in Oxford and live in a village just outside. I cycle six miles to work and back, rain or shine, past the miserable people sat in their cars going nowhere.

The thing that strikes me most is that 80 per cent of those cars have just one person in them. I see cars reversing out of their drives in our village at the same time, getting stuck in the same traffic, ending up at the park and ride and sitting on the same bus. If those people talked to each other and “car shared” they could save money and reduce the number of cars on the roads.

So, instead of being so critical start being positive and help yourselves for once rather than expecting others to do it for you. After all cycling and walking is much better for your health.
