I took the bus from my home in Littlemore to the city centre, always a pleasant trip.

But I got to the stop outside the Crown Court knowing I needed a quick trip to Speedwell Street gents before my meeting.

The facilities were closed for refurbishment. Not to be deterred I ventured to the Town Hall to be greeted by a sign decreeing those facilities were also shut for refurbishment. Not good when you have got off the bus early.

To have both toilets in the same area closed only led me to one conclusion... Mr John Tanner would have sanctioned these works.

Well he certainly played a blinding decision there, great for the tourists.

I look forward to his smiling face when the toilets are both reopened, mop in hand for the camera. What a shame he has no idea how to clean them or organise alternate facilities.

Believe me I know as St Aldate’s Police Station has now an ‘out of order’ sign on their toilet in the foyer.

Thanks for the planning.
