Although I applaud the developing technology of driverless vehicles for safer driving and environmental protection, I wonder about other effects. The idea of a platooning lorries raises images of being stuck behind such a convoy travelling at 40mph on minor roads, not being able to join a major road, access a roundabout or join/leave a motorway.

Our roads already have so many potholes, with many inside lanes with deep grooves eroded to lorry width. We also already have such a system of cargo carriage – freight railways. This technology maybe suited to large continents but not here. Think again David Cameron.
