WE live in a wonderful age but every day folk die for want of a transplant and at the same time organs are burnt or buried. So why not have a donor system and carry a card if you wish to donate.

Corneas, hearts, lungs and liver, kidneys, bone marrow and even hands could be used. How many would live or have a better quality of life. Blood transfusions are now so common we take them for granted. I have donated all organs that may be capable of being used, even my brain, for research use, as so little is known about the brain.

I respect the fact that some would oppose this idea and that of course is their right. I firmly believe that such donations would bring comfort to the donor’s family by knowing their loved one’s death had not been in vain.

I suspect many will condemn me but would they refuse such a donation? – I doubt it.
