I WAS surprised that your obituary, July 17, for Ann Hunt did not mention that many of us are familiar with Ann through the amazing book Can Any Mother Help Me?

The book, written by Jenna Bailey, is a collection of correspondence inspired by women’s isolation (social, geographical and more) spanning several decades. Ann’s role looking after James and setting up the Tuberous Association was narrated through the eyes of her mother in law. In creating the association she made life easier for other parents.

As the mum of a child with a disability, I would like to encourage other parents of children with disabilities to reach out for support and friendship through existing associations, such as Oasis (Oxfordshire Autistic Society), Children in Touch, Contact a Family and more.
