OUT with the old and in with the new but will it be good for the future of Oxford United?

I hope that in due course we will be able to look back at this time and say yes this is what we wanted and that it has all turned out alright on the night. But along with many other supporters there is scepticism about what has happened and how the club moves forward.

Ian Lenagan is still here but for how long, before he is ousted? Darryl Eales, what do we know about him, not exactly a local man so why should he come to Oxford unless he sees an opportunity for himself in football?

Mark Ashton is the new CEO but comes with no recommendations in my view.

He more than anyone is going to have to work hard to win over the Oxford supporters, as will the new manager Michael Appleton (partly through no fault of his own) who does not have a glowing CV (partly through no fault of his own). If they don’t, Oxford United supporters will let them know. Personally I hope they do succeed, not just for themselves but especially for Oxford United.

As for Gary Waddock, well he did not deserve this and I do feel for him. No Oxford supporter should criticise him, simply because he was not here long enough to do what he wanted to do so I wish him well in whatever he does next.

Back to the new regime. Well we have our doubts but at the end of the day it is about Oxford United and providing they deliver then we will be happy but if they don’t, they will soon know about it. The best of luck to all concerned and hopefully a successful season.
