MANY of the top six banks plan to close branches in market towns.

This is just plain greedy to maximise profits and cut staff.

It is a myth that most banking is conducted online. Twenty-five per cent of people, including many elderly, are not on the internet.

At my local bank my cashier informs me that the branch is always busy, often with people queuing to talk to an advisor.

For loans and mortgages and opening new bank accounts ID is needed and this cannot be done online.

The latest victim is Nat West in Woodstock – this will severely affect the residents.

Please think again the top six banks.
