I REALISE that the Archbishop of Canterbury is a busy man, but I am sorry he has stepped down as patron of the RSPCA. He would be an excellent advocate for animal welfare. God has given us a responsibility to care for the whole of creation and we need to make people aware of animal abuse and neglect. Factory farming, animal experiments, hunting (a few examples) all raise ethical questions. Animal issues should be on the Church’s agenda.
