THIS debate of women in the church will go on for a long time yet.
However, I am referring to the letter (ViewPoints, December 6, Bishop vote was right) labelling the Katherine Macalister article as ‘feisty’.
If supporting our rights as equal human beings is feisty, then ‘feisty’ we must be. After all, women are human beings, not some other creature of this planet to be treated otherwise.
What sort of example is this result giving to other creeds and cultures where women so desperately need to be treated as equal human beings?
How it grieves me to see women walking behind their husbands along the Cowley Road as if they were the family pet dog. As for Christ only choosing men, well, didn’t he have enough to deal with as it was, without putting women at risk?
It was then a very primitive society and he knew only too well what the outcome for them would be. Run out of town, if not worse I expect. I rest my case!
