Vikings B demolished Rutherford 9-1 to clinch the Division 1 championship in style.

It’s the first time this century that a Vikings team has captured the top-flight title.

The demolition of Rutherford was decisive with Pavel Jaskolski and Jingyu Sun getting maximums.

Nigel Taylor won twice before going down to Neil Hurford in a fifth-set decider.

Sun’s performance was dazzling, as he conceded only 35 points over his three matches.

He has now drawn level with Karl Bushell, of Kidlington Forum, on 38 wins out of 42 for the season with just one more match left.

So there is the prospect of joint winners of the Warner Cup for the first time since 1959.

Rutherford had better luck against Forum C, winning 6-4. Hurford recorded a maximum and was supported well by Tony Stead and Chris Lansley.

Mike Wilkins put up the most resistance for Forum, and Greg Boone managed one win from three five-setters to earn Forum a point.

Bicester are relegated from Division 2 after going down 8-2 to their main rivals Begbroke.

The highlight for Bicester was Joe Marrs’s win over Janet Brown, but maximums for Ian Gordon and Paul Humphrey stamped out their hopes of survival.

Begbroke completed their season by holding champions Vikings D to a draw.

RESULTS.

Div 1: RAL 1, Vikings B 9 (P Jaskolski 3, J Sun 3); Forum C 4, RAL 6 (N Hurford 3).

Div 2: Begbroke 8 (I Gordon 3, P Humphrey 3), Bicester B 2; Begbroke 5, Vikings D 5.
