A classy men’s open is in prospect as the newly-formed Kingston Blount Racing Club stage their first meeting at the popular Kingston Blount course, near Chinnor, tomorrow (1pm), The club has been set up to keep alive the fixture formerly staged by the Oxford University Hunt Club.

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of point-to-point racing at Kingston Blount.

Fittingly, this term’s first of four fixtures at the popular venue features a competitive entry for the men’s open, including Aston Rowant trainer Alan Hill’s pair of More Trouble, who is unbeaten in five starts at the track, and Start Royal.

Also in the line-up is My Way De Solzen, a dual Cheltenham Festival winner, who was a gallant second to the smart Picaroon in soft ground at Chaddesley last time out, and Noble Ben, winner of a confined at Whitwick Manor three weeks ago.

Now an 11-year-old, My Way De Solzen holds an alternative entry in the ladies’ open where the Hill-trained Balladeer could bid to repeat last year’s win.

The Aston Rowant handler also has Mysaynoway, winner of the Southern Grand National mixed open at Kingston Blount last April, in the line-up.

Prolific winner Lady Myfanwy and Mr Cee are other interesting contenders.

Noble Ben has also been given an entry in the opening club members’ conditions race where Bon Accord could fly the flag for Hill, while impressive Chaddesley winner Akilak is another to consider.
