Oxfordshire's men are still in with a chance of promotion from Group 7 after sneaking a 5-4 victory over Northumberland in Beckenham, Kent.
It means, confusingly, that they will go into the top section of the group as it splits into two.
The leading four teams out of the seven will now play-off for promotion – with their scores against the other counties in their new section carried forward.
It means that Oxon, Staffordshire, Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire will battle it out for two promotion places.
However, Oxfordshire, who lost 8-1 to Staffs on Tuesday, and Gloucestershire, who were beaten by Northants, will start on zero points, with the other duo beginning on two.
Oxon face Northants today, knowing a win is vital to keep alive their hopes of going up.
